The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – O-5 Billet, Non-Supervisory position plays a vital role in the delivery of high-quality medical care to individuals housed within Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facilities. As a licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, you will be part of the ICE Health Service Corps (IHSC), a multidisciplinary team of over 1,400 professionals dedicated to ensuring the health and safety of detainees while maintaining compliance with federal healthcare standards.
Advanced Practice Provider (O-5 Billet): This position provides direct patient care to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainees. Duties include evaluations, treatments, minor procedures, infection control, referrals, documentation, and mentoring. Candidates must hold appropriate licensure, certifications, and meet physical readiness standards.
Note: This position is only open to USPHS Commissioned Corps Officers currently employed by IHSC. USPHS Call to Active Duty (CAD) candidates and civilians are not eligible.

Duties
As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will:
Provide direct care during scheduled, urgent, or emergency visits.
Conduct comprehensive history and physical evaluations, behavioral health care, and minor surgical procedures.
Perform infirmary care, admissions, discharges, and rounds.
Consult with physicians/clinical directors on complex cases.
Prescribe medications and interpret diagnostic results.
Manage TB cases, infection control measures, and universal precautions.
Coordinate referrals to off-site consultants.
Mentor, train, and support APP onboarding.
Document all detainee care visits per IHSC policies.
May serve as medical escort for detainees during travel.
Participate in peer review and attend required meetings.
Requirements
Conditions of Employment:
U.S. citizenship.
Successful background investigation and drug screening.
Selective Service registration (if applicable).
Completion of an 18-month Service Requirement Agreement with IHSC.
No active Assignment Pay Agreement (or must expire within 90 days of application).
Qualifications:
Minimum 4 years of full-time clinical experience as a PA or NP (or Medical Director approval).
State license (PA or NP), national certification (NCCPA, AANP, or ANCC).
DEA license for controlled medications.
CPR/BLS certification.
Physical ability to lift, carry, or assist patients in emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Correctional health care experience.
Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP).
Knowledge of IHSC policies, NCCHC, and PBNDS standards.
ACLS certification.
